Instagram Sync

If Instagram is part of your personal or professional outreach, let Dex handle the busywork. Connect it from Settings → Workflow → Sync & Integrations, under Messaging.

If Instagram is part of your personal or professional outreach, let Dex handle the busywork. Connect it from Settings → Workflow → Sync & Integrations, under Messaging.

Once Instagram is connected:

Messaging Sync: All your contacts who you DM one-on-one in Instagram will be automatically added to Dex.
Last Interaction sync: A snippet of your last message will be saved, and the last interaction for a contact will automatically be updated. This keeps existing keep-in-touch reminders also up-to-date.
Instagram Contacts: A group for your Instagram contacts will be created and actively updated.
Instagram enables a wide variety of new workflows. For example, you can now easily create a note based on the last 5 people you DM on Instagram.

Connecting Instagram

Dex reads your Instagram session through the Dex browser extension, so you connect from a browser that has the extension installed.

Log in to Instagram in Chrome

Install the Dex extension in Chrome, then log in to Instagram in that same browser.

Connect from Sync & Integrations

Open Dex in the same browser and go to Settings → Workflow → Sync & Integrations. Click Connect next to Instagram, then Continue with Instagram Sync.

If the extension isn't installed, Dex shows The Dex browser extension is required with an Add to Chrome button. Install it, reload the page and try again.

The Dex desktop app can't run browser extensions, so it doesn't connect Instagram itself. Instead it shows Connect Instagram from your browser with a link to open in Chrome. Connect there once. After that the sync runs on Dex's servers and shows up in the desktop app as well.

The first sync takes 1 to 3 hours. After that, allow up to 1 to 2 days for new changes to appear in your contacts.
