Groups vs Tags
Groups and Tags are both tools for organizing your relationships, but they serve slightly different purposes.
- Groups are best used as your primary method of organization. They're ideal for organizing your network into key categories like "Friends," "Work," or "Advisors."
- Tags are more flexible and detailed. They're great for adding specific context to contacts, like labeling someone as a "UX Designer" or "2023 Event Attendee."
We generally recommend starting with Groups as your main structure. Use Tags when you need more detailed or layered organization, especially if you're managing a large network with diverse attributes.

Absolutely. Both Groups and Tags can be used when filtering, sorting, or customizing views, so you can organize and interact with your network in the way that works best for you. Learn more about Views →
Not with Tags. The Tags filter offers is any of and is none of, so it matches a contact carrying at least one of the tags you pick.
The Groups filter has a third option, is all of, which matches only contacts that are in every group you pick. If you need that behaviour for a category, make it a Group.
Not from the contacts table. Selecting contacts and choosing Tag adds a tag to all of them, and there is no bulk equivalent for taking one off, so you remove a tag one contact at a time from the contact's card.
Groups differ here. Bulk actions can both add contacts to a group and remove them from one.
